Today our tutor spotlight is our new tutor, Abigail Boudreaux. She is studying Psychology and French here at Tech. She is planning to graduate in December 2018. Abigail decided to come to Tech because out of all the colleges she visited, Tech was the only place she could imagine herself living for four years or more. She moved to Lubbock from Plano, leaving her parents and her five dogs behind. Before becoming a tutor, Abigail was a part of the Writing Fellows program. She says that she really enjoys teaching but couldn’t see herself being a professor. The program showed her that tutoring was just a new way of teaching. Abigail says it also “helped me explore how much I love writing even though I wasn’t studying it.” She decided becoming a tutor would be a way to continue everything she loved about the Writing Fellows program through joining the UWC family. Her favorite part about tutoring is brainstorming sessions. She says “I love discussing new ideas and see something start.”

Outside of schoolwork and tutoring, Abigail spends a lot of time travelling the world. She has been to 26 countries total. In the last two years alone, she has been to seven new countries. To keep track of all of the countries she has travelled to, she collects keychains. She currently has 19 keychains total.

Lastly, we asked Abigail if she could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? She said having to choose one was too difficult, so she picked her top three. The first place Abigail chose was somewhere she has been before. She would want to live on her family’s vineyard estate. She said her Great Uncle lives there and she visits during most summers. “It is the most relaxing place you could ever be” says Abigail. Her second choice was somewhere she hasn’t been. She said either Moscow or Japan. She says she loves the history of Moscow and she thinks Japan would be a refreshing “culture shock.” And last but not least, Abigail said Washington DC is her most realistic choice. She wants to work in policy as a lawyer and she hopes the be living there in the next five years.
