Callie has been a tutor at the University Writing Center since the fall semester of 2018. She is a senior this year studying Animal Science on a Pre-Pharmacy track. She said she chose this specific area of study because it allowed her to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, which she will begin in August of 2020. Callie also said that being able to accomplish this in Animal Science gave her the opportunity to be immersed in a college culture that would have similar goals and beliefs to the way she was raised. She said she was raised in the livestock and agriculture industry. Callie is originally from Canyon, TX. She said she chose to come to Texas Tech because it was one of the closest universities to her hometown. She said receiving the Terry Scholarship from Texas Tech sealed the deal for her.
An interesting fact about Callie is that she has a fraternal twin sister who attends Texas A&M. She said not many people from Texas Tech know that they are twins. She continued to explain that they are complete opposites.
Callie wanted to become a tutor because she loved helping people. She said that she enjoys writing, but it is not her true passion. She explained that she is drawn to a career in pharmacy because of the difference it will allow her to make in people's everyday lives. Callie said that she loves that tutoring also allows her to make a difference.
Lastly, we asked Callie if she could be a fictional character, who would she be? Callie responded, “I would be Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. I am a total Harry Potter geek, and have read all of the books three times.”
